Does it matter what the “creep” did and who he did it for and with?  Absolutely it does.  And it’s bigger than J E    It’s an issue of trust in government agencies that we fund.  Anger and rage can blind us to our own depravity and hypocrisy.  Taking the plank out of your own eye doesn’t mean it stops there.  We take it out so we can clearly see to help others.
